Of Belgian origin, Jean-Pierre Lecocq was the Scientific Director of Transgene (Strasbourg, France ) at the company's founding in December 1979 at the initiative of Professors Pierre Chambon and Philippe Kourilsky.
At his death, January 1992 he was the General Director of Transgene and the Scientific Director of the Groupe Pasteur-Mérieux-Connaught. Jean-Pierre was a molecular biologist, entrepreneur, and was a well-known leader in the then emerging field of industrial genetic engineering/biotechnology of the 1980's.  |
